Plastic pipe testing standards are not one standard — they are three layers answering three different questions. ايزو 1167 asks whether the pipe survives internal pressure; ايزو 9969 asks whether it survives the soil and traffic load pressing on it from outside; ايزو 1133 asks whether the compound was stable enough to make a pipe worth testing. Those three results decide whether the pipe is still in service in 50 years. ايزو 1167 reports whether a specimen held a defined hoop stress at a defined temperature for a defined time; ايزو 9969 converts a measured force into a ring stiffness that maps onto an SN class (SN4, SN8, SN16); ايزو 1133 gives the melt flow rate that acts as a fingerprint of the resin’s molecular state. Everything else in the ISO pipe testing family either feeds those three tests or extends them. 1 4 2
The three layers of plastic pipe testing standards
Most procurement arguments about pipe quality are really arguments about which layer is being discussed. A compound can be excellent and a pipe badly extruded; a pipe can pass every short-term test and still fail on slow crack growth in year twenty. The standard architecture separates the layers so that a failure can be traced back to the right stage.
| Layer | Question it answers | Governing test standards | Reported quantity |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 — Compound / مادة | Is the resin the grade that was specified, and is it still stabilised? | ايزو 1133 (MFR/MVR), ايزو 11357-6 (OIT), ايزو 6964:2019 (carbon black), ايزو 1183 (density) | جم/10 دقيقة, minutes, % by mass, kg/m³ |
| 2 — Pipe as a component | Does the finished pipe meet its mechanical class? | ايزو 1167 (internal pressure), ايزو 9969 (تصلب الحلقة), ايزو 9967 (creep ratio), ايزو 13968 (ring flexibility), ايزو 3127 (external blows) | hours to failure, kN/m², dimensionless ratio, pass/fail, TIR % |
| 3 — Material classification for design | What pressure can a designer assume for 50 years? | ايزو 9080 (extrapolation), ايزو 12162 (MRS and design coefficient) | MRS in MPa → PE 80 / بي 100, design stress σs |
Layer 2 without layer 1 is not evidence of anything. A pipe that passes 165 hours at 80 °C has shown that that specimen was well made — not that the extrusion line is under control. That is why a serious specification names a compound test alongside the pipe test, and why ISO 1167’s foreword points at ISO 9080 when the test is being used for material classification rather than batch release. 1
ايزو 1167 — resistance to internal pressure (the hydrostatic test)
A sealed specimen is filled with water, capped at both ends, conditioned at the temperature the referring standard requires, then held under internal pressure until it fails by bursting, weeping or leaking at the seal. ايزو 1167-1 accommodates water-in-water, water-in-air and water-in-liquid arrangements, because not every laboratory or polymer tolerates the same medium. The four-part split matters because preparation rules differ completely between a plain pipe, a fitting and a welded assembly. 1
| جزء | Title | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| ايزو 1167-1:2006 | General method | Apparatus, test pressure calculation, conditioning, procedure, test report |
| ايزو 1167-2:2006 | Preparation of pipe test pieces | Cutting, end capping and free-length rules for plain pipe |
| ايزو 1167-3 | Preparation of components | Test pieces built from fittings and moulded parts |
| ايزو 1167-4 | Preparation of assemblies | Test pieces including joints, e.g. butt-fused or electrofusion assemblies |
Calculating the test pressure
There are three permitted routes to the test pressure, and they do not always produce the same number. 1
| Route | صيغة | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Measured dimensions | p = 10 σ · 2e_min / (d_em − e_min) |
Measured minimum wall thickness e_min, measured mean outside diameter d_em |
| Nominal dimensions | p = 10 σ · 2e_n / (d_n − e_n) |
Nominal wall thickness e_n and nominal outside diameter d_n |
| By SDR | p = 2(10σ) / ([SDR] − 1) |
Standard dimension ratio SDR = d_n / e_n |
In all three, σ is the hoop stress to be induced, in MPa, و p comes out in bar — the factor 10 is simply the MPa-to-bar conversion. The underlying thin-wall relation, σ = P(d − e) / (2e), is the same equation rearranged.
Why the measured route is the strict one. It uses e_min — the thinnest wall in the free length, not the average. Extruded wall thickness is never uniform, and the thinnest point is where a pressure pipe fails first. When a lab reports a test pressure lower than your nominal-wall calculation, the measured minimum wall is usually the reason rather than a lab error. Where a certification scheme uses the test for material classification, ايزو 1167-1 requires the rigid Type A end cap, because Type B caps with a metal sleeve do not reproduce the same stress state at the seal. 1
Where the temperatures and durations come from. ايزو 1167-1 contains no temperature/duration matrix. It supplies the method; the referring product standard supplies the hoop stress, temperature and time — ISO 4427-2 for PE water pipe, whose mechanical-characteristics table combines several temperatures with durations of roughly 100 ل 1,000 hours, and the EN 13476 series for non-pressure structured-wall systems. Two reports can therefore both say “tested to ISO 1167” and mean either a one-hour burst check at ambient temperature or a 1,000-hour creep-rupture run at 80 درجة مئوية. 9 21
ايزو 1167-1 requires a minimum of three test pieces unless the referring standard says otherwise. Pressure control must hold the set value within +2 % / −1 %, and the timer must be accurate to 0.5 % of the expected testing time. 1
ايزو 9969 — ring stiffness and the SN class
If ISO 1167 is the pressure standard, ايزو 9969 is the burial standard. A buried flexible pipe is not carried by its wall alone; it is carried by a pipe–soil system, and the pipe’s job is to hold its shape long enough for the surrounding soil to take the load. 2
A ring cut from the pipe is compressed between two flat, parallel plates at a controlled speed until its vertical diameter has reduced by 3.0 %. The force at that point, the specimen length and the deflection produce the ring stiffness. Three specimens (أ, ب, c) are taken from a pipe marked along its length, rotated to different angular positions, and the reported value is their mean. 2 3
The current edition is ايزو 9969:2016, الطبعة الثالثة, prepared by ISO/TC 138/SC 5. It replaced ISO 9969:2007 and was confirmed without technical change in the 2021 systematic review. ال 2016 revision introduced rules for specimen length based on nominal diameter and wall construction, added inside-diameter measurement for thick-walled and structured products, and turned the pre-load force into a calculated value. 2
The ring stiffness formula, and why the correction term matters
Ring stiffness for a single specimen is calculated as 19:
S = (0.0186 + 0.025 · y / d_i) · F / (L · y)
where F is the force at 3 % deflection (kN), L the specimen length (m), y the vertical deflection (m) و d_i the mean inside diameter (m). The result is in kN/m², the unit in which SN classes are expressed.
At exactly 3 % deflection, y / d_i is 0.03, so the bracket evaluates to 0.01935 — which is why the simplified form S ≈ 0.0186 · F / (L · y) persists in older literature. The correction term is small but not zero, and it is the main reason an ISO 9969 result and an ASTM D2412 result are not interchangeable. ASTM D2412 stops at 5 % deflection and reports pipe stiffness as PS = F / Δy, with no deflection-dependent term. An SN8 pipe has not been shown to meet a D2412 requirement, and a D2412 figure cannot be converted into an SN class. 19
| Class | Minimum ring stiffness | Typical application |
|---|---|---|
| SN4 | 4 kN/m² | Shallow burial, low traffic loading |
| SN8 | 8 kN/m² | Standard municipal drainage and sewer |
| SN16 | 16 kN/m² | Deep burial, heavy traffic, industrial duty |
The measured value must meet or exceed the class — it does not round up to it. A result of 7.9 kN/m² does not satisfy SN8.
Three standards people confuse: ايزو 9969, ايزو 13967 و ايزو 13968
These are three different quantities that appear on the same datasheet and are routinely quoted as if they were the same number. 26
| معيار | Subject | Reference point | What it answers |
|---|---|---|---|
| ايزو 9969 | Ring stiffness of أنابيب | 3 % diametric deflection | How stiff is this pipe at the start of loading? |
| ايزو 13967 | Ring stiffness of fittings (bends, branches) | Applies where the fitting permits ≥4 % deflection | How stiff is the fitting that joins the pipes? |
| ايزو 13968 | Ring flexibility of pipes | A specified deflection well beyond 3 % | Does the pipe deform gracefully, or crack and delaminate? |
A pipe can honestly be rated SN8 and still fail a flexibility test — only the flexibility test speaks to what happens when the trench is loaded harder than anyone planned. That is why non-pressure product standards such as EN 13476-1 require ring stiffness, ring flexibility and creep ratio as separate line items. 21
ايزو 9967 — creep ratio, the third leg of the SN story
Ring stiffness describes a short event: force measured once, at 3 % deflection, minutes into the test. Buried pipe, however, is loaded for decades. ايزو 9967 exists to quantify what happens after the first minute. 22
The specimen is a ring, conditioned and aged on the same rules as ISO 9969, loaded between parallel plates to reach 3 % deformation, then held under that constant load while deflection is logged over time. The creep ratio compares deflection at a short reference time — commonly 30 minutes — with deflection at the end of the test, most commonly a 10,000-hour (42-day) run. It is the acceptance criterion for socket-joint tightness in the EN 13476 series, because creep is what eventually opens a joint. 22
Two details distinguish a competent lab. The loading must hit the 1.5 % deflection target at 360 seconds within a narrow tolerance; miss it and the standard requires a restart rather than a correction. And the specimen must be aged — 21 ± 2 days for type testing — because polyolefin rings continue to relax after extrusion, so a freshly cut ring reads differently from a settled one. 22
ايزو 1133 — melt flow rate, the compound’s fingerprint
ايزو 1133 has nothing to do with how strong a pipe is. It measures how the molten compound flows, and its value in a pipe specification is indirect but powerful: MFR is a sensitive indicator of molecular degradation. 4
A charge of material is heated in an extrusion plastometer and pushed through a die by a loaded piston. Procedure A collects and weighs the extrudate over a timed interval to give the معدل تدفق الكتلة الذائبة (MFR) in g/10 min; Procedure B uses a piston-displacement transducer to give the melt volume-flow rate (MVR) in cm³/10 min. MVR is the more useful figure when comparing filled with unfilled compounds because it is not distorted by filler density. The current edition is ايزو 1133-1:2022, second edition, published June 2022 and replacing ISO 1133-1:2011. 4 5
| مادة | Condition | ملحوظة |
|---|---|---|
| بي (polyethylene) | 190 درجة مئوية / 2.16 كجم | The classic “مؤشر الذوبان” حالة |
| ص (مادة البولي بروبيلين) | 230 درجة مئوية / 2.16 كجم | Higher temperature needed for melting |
| ملاحظة: (polystyrene) | 200 درجة مئوية / 5.00 كجم | |
| ABS | 220 درجة مئوية / 10.00 كجم |
حيث ايزو 1133-2 fits. For materials whose rheological behaviour changes during the measurement — through hydrolysis, chain scission, condensation or cross-linking — ISO 1133-1 is the wrong document and ISO 1133-2 applies. That matters for pipes because moisture-sensitive or highly stabilised compounds are exactly the ones that give a misleading MFR on the standard procedure. One caveat ISO itself prints: shear rates in this test are far lower than in real extrusion, so MFR correlates imperfectly with processing behaviour. It is a quality-control tool, not a design property. Its real job in pipe procurement is to prove that the pellets in the silo and the pipe in the trench are the same material — which makes it one of the fastest ways to detect a compound that has been over-worked, contaminated or blended with regrind. 4
The rest of the pipe testing standards map
ايزو 1167, 9969 و 1133 sit at the centre, but a complete pipe specification will reference several more. The table below is the working map — this is what “pipe testing ISO standards” actually covers in practice. 21

| Material classification and design coefficient | ايزو 12162 | ايزو 12162:2009 | MRS → PE 80 / بي 100 |
Three of these deserve a sentence each, because buyers most often omit them.
ايزو 3127 / EN ISO 3127:2017 — external blows. A striker of specified mass and hemispherical nose is dropped from a known height onto marked positions around the circumference of a 200 mm specimen conditioned at 0 °C ± 1 درجة مئوية, continuing “round the clock” until failure or until every marked line has been struck. The result is an estimated true impact rate: 10 % or less passes, more than 10 % rejects, and anything between is inconclusive. The test must finish within roughly 10 ل 30 seconds of the specimen leaving the conditioning bath, which is why a lab that walks specimens down a corridor cannot produce a valid result. EN ISO 3127:2017 superseded EN 744:1995, so a report citing “EN 744” quotes a withdrawn document. 23
ايزو 6964:2019 — carbon black content. Carbon black is added to polyolefin pipe at roughly 2–2.5 % by mass to block ultraviolet light. ال 2019 edition replaced the long-standing 1986 text and recognises three methods — tube furnace, muffle furnace including a microwave variant, and thermogravimetric analysis — using three test portions and reporting the mean to two significant figures. One trap is written into the standard itself: additives that also decompose at 900 درجة مئوية, such as calcium carbonate, can cause the calculation to over-estimate محتوى الكربون الأسود, and an ash yield above 1 % calls for further investigation. Content and dispersion are separate questions, so pair the content result with a dispersion assessment. 6 7
ايزو 11357-6 — oxidation induction time. A specimen is heated under nitrogen past its melting point to a set temperature — 200 °C is the common choice for polyethylene — then the atmosphere switches to oxygen and the clock runs until an exotherm appears on the DSC curve. For PE pipe the minimum acceptance value is commonly 20 minutes at 200 درجة مئوية. Its diagnostic value lies in being measured on both the virgin pellet and the finished pipe: extrusion consumes antioxidant, so a pellet that passes and a pipe that fails is a process warning, not a material failure. 24 25
How the numbers connect: from MRS to a pressure rating
This chain turns a laboratory result into a number a designer can use, and each link explains why the test above it exists. 20
- ايزو 1167 tests are run at several temperatures and stress levels, producing time-to-failure data.
- ايزو 9080 extrapolates those curves statistically to 50 years at 20 °C and reports the lower 97.5 % prediction limit, σLPL. 10
- ايزو 12162 rounds σLPL down into a standard band: 8 MPa ≤ σLPL < 10 MPa becomes MRS 8 MPa → بي 80; 10 MPa ≤ σLPL < 11.2 MPa becomes MRS 10 MPa → بي 100.
- Design stress is σs = MRS / ج. For water service the minimum design coefficient is C = 1.25, giving σs = 8.0 MPa for PE 100; for gas service C = 2 applies.
- Pipe pressure rating follows from SDR:
PN = 20 σs / (SDR − 1). 9
| Grade | MRS | Design stress σs (water, C = 1.25) | SDR for PN 10 | SDR for PN 16 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| بي 63 | 6.3 MPa | 5.0 MPa | — (legacy for pressure use) | — |
| بي 80 | 8.0 MPa | 6.3 MPa | SDR 13.6 | SDR 9 |
| بي 100 | 10.0 MPa | 8.0 MPa | SDR 17 | SDR 11 |
The commercial reason PE 100 dominates new water and gas mains is visible in that table: at PN 10 it reaches SDR 17 where PE 80 needs SDR 13.6 — a thinner wall at the same outside diameter, meaning less resin per metre and a larger bore for the same flow. The 50-year figure is a design basis, not a predicted failure date; industry extrapolation and dig-up studies point to a substantially longer expected service life under normal buried conditions. 20
Sample preparation and conditioning — where plastic pipe test methods are won or lost
Almost every invalid pipe test result traces back to specimen handling rather than to the instrument. These are the controls that separate a defensible report from a decorative one. 2 22 23
| Control | Rule of thumb | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Specimen age | 21 ± 2 days for type testing (ايزو 9969 / ايزو 9967) | Extruded polyolefin continues to relax post-extrusion; a green ring reads differently |
| Conditioning | Fully through the wall, not just at the surface; ≥24 h at test temperature | A pipe still cold in the middle of its wall reads stiff |
| درجة حرارة الاختبار | (23 ± 2) °C default for stiffness and creep; (27 ± 2) °C where that is the national laboratory standard; disputes revert to 23 درجة مئوية | Stiffness is temperature-dependent |
| Conditioning medium for impact | 0 °C ± 1 °C in air or liquid | The liquid bath is the reference method in case of dispute |
| Time out of conditioning | Roughly 10–30 s depending on wall thickness | Specimens warm up fast and the test validity expires |
| Dimensional measurement | Inside diameter and wall thickness actually measured (ايزو 3126), not taken from the drawing | ال 3 % deflection target is computed from the measured inside diameter |
| Zero-point correction | Extrapolate the initial linear part of the force–deflection curve back to the axis | An uncorrected offset shifts every recorded force |
| Plate stiffness | Plates must be rigid, flat, parallel and must overhang the specimen | Plates that flex under load unload the middle of the specimen and make every pipe read soft |
| Sample location | Avoid pipe ends and visible defects; cut structured-wall specimens to contain a whole number of ribs | A specimen cut across a profile pitch produces a result nobody else can reproduce |
Two of these are invisible on the certificate. Specimen age is not bureaucracy: ايزو 9969 و ايزو 9967 both require aged specimens for type testing, and a lab that shortcuts this reports a stiffness that is systematically off. Plate rigidity is the most common equipment-related error on ring stiffness rigs — a machine accurate to Class 0.5 in force can still produce soft readings if the compression platens deflect, because the specimen is being unloaded in the middle of the ring.
What changed in the standards — the 2026 position
Standards are living documents, and several named in this guide have moved recently. Anyone quoting an edition year from a 2010s-era datasheet should check it against this table, because pipe testing ISO standards follow a review cycle that most purchase specifications never track. 6 2 4
| معيار | Edition to specify now | Status in 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| ايزو 6964 | ايزو 6964:2019 | Being revised. A third edition (ISO/DIS 6964) completed its DIS ballot, and the full report approving registration as an FDIS was circulated in July 2026 — a new edition will replace the 2019 نص. Reports still quoting ISO 6964:1986 cite a superseded edition. |

The practical instruction is short: write the edition year into your purchase specification.
Six misreadings that cost money
- “Tested to ISO 1167” without temperature or duration. The standard does not set them. A one-hour ambient burst test and a 1,000-hour test at 80 °C are both “ISO 1167”.
- Treating an SN class as an ASTM pipe stiffness figure. ايزو 9969 reports ring stiffness at 3 % deflection with a correction term; ASTM D2412 reports pipe stiffness at 5 % without one. They cannot be converted either way. 19
- Specifying a stiffness class to compensate for an unspecified trench. A correctly bedded SN4 pipe routinely outperforms an SN8 pipe dropped into a poorly compacted trench with rubble against its haunches, because in a flexible-pipe system the soil supplies most of the resistance. The class and the installation specification belong in the same document. 26
- Reading an MFR value as a design property. ايزو 1133 is a comparative quality-control test with shear rates far below processing conditions. Its job is to detect change, not to predict performance. 4
- Accepting a carbon black content figure as proof of UV life. Content and dispersion are separate tests, and dispersion is what governs whether carbon black actually shields the resin. 6
- Quoting a withdrawn edition. “EN 744” for external blows and “ايزو 6964:1986” for carbon black are both superseded — a specification that names a withdrawn standard tells every serious supplier that the buyer has not reviewed it in a decade.

What is ISO 1167 used for in plastic pipe testing?
ايزو 1167 determines a thermoplastic pipe’s resistance to internal hydrostatic pressure at a given temperature. A sealed specimen is filled with water, conditioned at the specified temperature, and held under internal pressure until it fails or the required time elapses. ايزو 1167-1 contains the general method and the test-pressure calculations; Parts 2 ل 4 cover preparation of pipe test pieces, components and assemblies. ايزو 1167 sets the method but not the temperature or duration — those come from the referring product standard, such as ISO 4427-2 for PE water pipe.
What does an SN8 ring stiffness result actually mean?
SN8 means the pipe reached a ring stiffness of at least 8 kN/m² when tested to ISO 9969 — the force required to produce a 3 % diametric deflection of a ring specimen compressed between parallel plates. The value must meet or exceed the class; 7.9 kN/m² does not qualify. The class describes behaviour at the very start of deformation, which governs whether the pipe holds its shape while the surrounding soil takes up the burial load. It says nothing about large deflections; that is measured separately by the ring flexibility test under ISO 13968.
هل ايزو 9969 ring stiffness the same as ASTM D2412 pipe stiffness?
لا. Both compress a ring between parallel plates, but they report different quantities. ايزو 9969 measures ring stiffness at 3 % of inside diameter with a deflection-dependent correction term, giving a result in kN/m² that maps onto SN4, SN8 and SN16. ASTM D2412 measures pipe stiffness at 5 % deflection using a plain force-over-deflection relationship with no correction term. Because the reference deflections and formulas differ, an SN8 pipe has not been shown to meet a D2412 requirement, and a D2412 figure cannot be converted into an SN class. Projects needing both run both tests.
Why does ISO 1133 matter if MFR is only a quality-control test?
Because its job in procurement is comparison, not prediction. ايزو 1133 measures how a molten compound flows through a die under defined temperature and load: Procedure A gives melt mass-flow rate in g/10 min, Procedure B gives melt volume-flow rate in cm³/10 min. A value inside the expected window for the declared grade is evidence that the pellets and the pipe made from them are the same properly stabilised material. An upward drift usually signals molecular degradation; a downward drift can indicate contamination. That makes it one of the fastest ways to catch regrind blending or an over-worked extrusion line.
Which ISO standard covers carbon black content, and which edition applies in 2026?
ايزو 6964 covers carbon black content in polyolefin pipes and fittings, determined by calcination and pyrolysis. Specify ISO 6964:2019, which replaced the 1986 text and recognises three methods: tube furnace, muffle furnace including a microwave variant, and thermogravimetric analysis. The standard is also under revision — a third edition completed its DIS ballot and progressed toward FDIS registration in July 2026. Reports still citing ISO 6964:1986 reference a superseded edition, and the method is unsuitable for compounds whose non-volatile fillers remain as residue.
What is the difference between ISO 9969, ايزو 9967 و ايزو 13968?
They answer three different questions about the same ring specimen. ايزو 9969 measures ring stiffness — the force needed for 3 % deflection — producing the SN class used for buried drainage and sewer pipe. ايزو 9967 measures creep ratio, holding a ring under constant load for an extended period, commonly 10,000 hours, to quantify how much further it deforms with time; this governs long-term joint tightness. ايزو 13968 measures ring flexibility, compressing a non-pressure pipe well past 3 % to see whether it cracks, delaminates or buckles. في 13476-1 requires all three as separate line items.
How many test pieces does ISO 1167 require, and how long do the tests take?
ايزو 1167-1 requires a minimum of three test pieces unless the referring standard specifies otherwise. Duration is not set by ISO 1167 itself — it comes from the product standard that calls it up. For PE water pipe, ايزو 4427-2 combines several temperatures with durations of roughly 100 ل 1,000 hours; short ambient tests of about an hour are used for batch release and gross-defect detection, while long high-temperature runs support creep-rupture and material classification work. Two reports can both say “tested to ISO 1167” and measure entirely different things, so compare temperature and time before comparing results.
Can a pipe pass ISO 1167 and still fail in service?
نعم, and this is the most important limitation to understand. A hydrostatic test is a condition test: it shows that the specimens submitted held a specific hoop stress at a specific temperature for a specific time. It does not reproduce what a buried pipe actually sees. External soil pressure, point loads from stones and backfill, slow crack growth at stress concentrations and antioxidant depletion all sit outside its scope — which is why a complete specification adds ring stiffness under ISO 9969, creep ratio under ISO 9967, external impact under ISO 3127 and oxidation induction time under ISO 11357-6. Passing one test is evidence about one failure mode, not a warranty.
Conclusion — the order to read a pipe test report
When a certificate lands on your desk, work through it in this sequence rather than reading the headline numbers first — it is the practical test of whether the plastic pipe testing standards behind it were applied to the right application.
- Check the edition year of every standard cited. Withdrawn editions invalidate the claim they support.
- Separate the three layers — compound tests (ايزو 1133, ايزو 11357-6, ايزو 6964), component tests (ايزو 1167, ايزو 9969, ايزو 9967, ايزو 13968, ايزو 3127) and the classification chain (ايزو 9080 → ISO 12162). A report with only one layer is incomplete for a pressured or buried application.
- Extract the conditions, not the verdict: temperature, duration, hoop stress, deflection, specimen age. A number without its conditions is unresolvable.
- Confirm specimen count and conditioning meet the standard’s minimums — especially the 21 ± 2 day ageing rule and the narrow time window after 0 °C conditioning.
- Cross-check units and reference points. kN/m² here, psi there; 3 % deflection here, 5 % there. Reference confusion is the most common source of false equivalence between ISO and ASTM results.
- Ask for the raw curve on ring stiffness and creep tests. The force–deflection trace exposes plate deflection, zero-point error and specimen seating in a way a single reported value cannot.
- Then compare the reported classes against the application: SN class against burial depth and traffic loading, SDR/PN against working pressure, MRS against the required 50-year design basis.
